Besides the large number of Spanish-speaking persons within the United States, think of all of the other lands that you could market to: *Spain ...and many others! (Of the countries listed above, Spain, the Canary Islands, and Argentina are all considered "high-income" countries.) Here are some statistics that help to show the potential for buyers from some of these countries: Argentina: *A study by the company Media Metrix stated that the number of Internet users in Argentina had reached 2.5 million in February 2001. *The same company conducted a poll of 6,700 Argentine Internet users showed that 74 percent of them access the Web from home and spend about ten hours a month connected to the Net. *Another study conducted by the consulting firm Sossen Marketing y Ventas showed that 50 percent of the Buenos Aires households have computers and that 61 percent of them have an Internet connection. In the high income suburbs in the North of the city, 70 percent of the households are connected. Spain: *The number of Internet users in Spain grew from 1.85 million in March of 1998 to 5.5 million in November of 2000. -Spanish Association of Internet Users *E-Commerce transactions in 1999 to have been USD 60 million and their estimate for 2000 is USD 127 million, USD 380 million for 2001, and USD 1.2 billion for 2002. -Government of Spain (GOS) Ecuador: *In Guayaquil, each year there are two book exhibitions. Participants estimate that their sales increase by 5 % as a result of these events . The books that sell the most range in price from $35 to $55.
